SKIIID

SKIIID is a drum synth for iPhone and iPad, as a standalone app and an AUv3.

It has four pads and each pad is its own voice. Slide left or right on a pad and the sound morphs between two settings. Up and down is velocity.

Sound

Every voice has three sound sources, followed by a filter, envelopes and effects.

• Sub: an oscillator with FM. It morphs between waveforms, and you set the amount and the speed of the FM.
• Sauce: a sampled layer that morphs through a set of samples.
• Noise: a noise layer that morphs through different noise samples.
• Pitch: pitch and fine tune, with a readout of the note the pad plays, so a kick can sit in the key of your song.
• Filter: cutoff, resonance and high pass.
• Envelopes: an amp envelope and a pitch envelope.
• Effects: bitcrush and distortion.

Drone mode

Drone mode holds a pad on, so you hear every knob change right away instead of tapping the pad over and over. It is the easiest way to build a sound.

A blue box shows which pad you are editing, and each pad remembers its own settings.

New sounds

• Random, Chaos and Mutate: three modes for new sounds on a pad. Random turns a pad into a kick, snare, hi-hat or percussion sound. Chaos randomizes the sound you already have, and its depth sets how far it goes.
• Auto-Mutate: keeps changing the sound in time with the tempo, with its own interval and intensity per pad.

Sequencer

• Steps: 16 steps per pad, with its own step length per pad for polyrhythms.
• Modes: reverse, shuffle, pin and random step.
• Sounds: each step can load its own sound, from factory or user presets.
• Sync: runs free or synced with Ableton Link.

Connections

• AUv3: runs in AUM, ApeMatrix, Audiobus or any AUv3 host. Several instances work independently.
• MIDI: MIDI In triggers the pads, and MIDI Learn maps external controllers.
